Is Midas okay for brakes...or do I go independent?

The front brakes pull to the left when I have to make a sudden stop, which I know is indicative of a need for brake replacement soon. Of these options, which would some of you Saab experts choose...1) Go to Midas/CarX for "lifetime" brakes, 2) Go to my local mechanic (very little experience with these cars) with all the discounted brake parts I need (bought off of eEuroparts.com) and have him put them on for me,or 3) Travel 80 miles to St. Louis where there is a Saab Master Technician who works exclusively on Saabs and Volvos. I am quite the amateur at mechanical work, so I unfortunately can't replace brakes myself. Is brake work essentially something that can be done by nearly all mechanics? What kind of cost differential might I be looking at between these options? Thanks in advance for any responses. Rick
