I think soon my saab will have to go. I have never got the temp to stay below 1/2 way in 4 years, maybe once when i put another rad in. I have had the radiator cleaned inside a new 82C thermostat and 82 thermo switch. Good powerful flow comes out when bleeding. The other day the mechanic told me to fill more coolant " Wynns type A " i did this and it worked great for a couple of days then up she would go again. I lost 1/2 a resoivoir full of coolant thru a leak, fixed and filled with coolant. Fan comes on just below the red and stays at 3/4 when driving. Thermostat opens when i first start the bomb because it goes just above 1/2 way then straight down to below 1/2 way, then slowly creeps up. Either the mechanic i took it to lied to me about saying it was 1/2 clogged and he cleaned it or he didn't. I love the saabs but this cooling thing is not that scientific and i am at the end of my robe with these cars. Surely putting coolant in it nearly 2 litres worked well but then i lost some say 1/4 of the resovoir then filled with coolant only. DAM IT. The head gasket is fine because no bubbles in coolant/ or oil, and i never loose any of water or oil. no smoke at tail pipe. Burning fuel perfectly because the spark plugs are clean and brown, which means i have a very good burn. Is the mechanic lying to me when he said he cleaned out each rod until no more obstructions, or is there a poosibility the motor is just old. It is a 1982 900 gli in good condition. as i said the flow is fantastic when i bleed the water as it shoots out and hits the inside fender so the water pump is fine. I have jst about had it. Japaneese cars seem very inviting at the moment. Does anyone in saabland have a clue why this bomb as i call it won't keep cool???????????????????????????????????????
