if you do a search on this board using copper head gasket you should come up with about 20 hits. i knew i wasn't seeing things. LOL as far as wifes tale...who knows as i have no desire to utilize one.....still say dissimilar metals are the problem...even if you only have two which are aluminum and steel. the acids in the old antifreeze act as the electrolyte and create the battery effect, as the gasket fails and deteriorates and removes the separator between the dissimilar metals which allows the corrosion of the steel because aluminum is highly corrosion resistant. seen many instances of this in the 25 years of doing non destructive testing on airplanes that had the same type of situation with the stainless steel rivets and the aluminum skins on the aircraft and just plain water.
