indicates Saab parts cost $600!! from dealer. On my old 84 900T I put a Turbo City intercooler kit on and as I recall it cost about $140 in 1985; yes prices have soared since then.
Also, I don't deny it took you 25 hours to put on the stock factory 85 and up up 8v intercooler, but I think that's excessive. Four to six hours including breaking/fixing old 84-era stuff should be maximum.
As to whether it works...yes, it worked significantly on my old 84 and it should work on yours. The real question is why put this amount of effort into an old 8v engine and get roughly 20 hp, maybe equivalent to a 16V NA engine (granted the turbo 8V has more torque). Might as well stuff a late model 16V drivetrain in there.
