Well, it really hit the fan for me today. I work in San Diego, but had my beautiful '87 900S hatchback up at my parents house because she had an appointment with the mechanic today for a valve job. Well, the mechanic called me and says that I've got a bad oil ring on the #1 cylinder. I'll never be able to afford to fix that. Not only that, but he asks why there are dog prints on the hood and the paint is all scratched up. I say I don't know, and call my mom. She says that a squirrel ran up under the hood and her dogs were trying to get to it. She says "dad can buff out the paint for you, but you're gonna need to get a new right wheel well trim piece, and mud flap, and bumper extension, and center cap". Damn those dogs.

So I called to credit union to get pre-approved for a $5500 loan today, and I'm waiting for denial, I mean approval. I've been looking around, and found a 1994 5door 900 with 102k and lots of options for $5495 in good condition, so I'm gonna look into that one. By the way, does anyone know about the reliability of VW VR6 engines? I found a low mileage 96 Jetta VR6 for $4995, and I'm thinking about that one. An overpowered compact might be fun, and I always liked the looks of the previous Jetta.

So, now I'm, just looking to put my '87 out to pasture, I hope to find someone who wants to rebuild her, after all, the interior is perfect, and so was the exterior. Goodbye loyal friend.
