Do you mean that the starter doesn't crank the engine? I'd check out both the ignition switch & the starter solenoid.
Be ready next time it does this. Have a voltmeter & a jumper wire.
Pull the little wire (yellow?) off the starter solenoid. That should get 12v power when the key is turned to "start". If not, then the ignition switch in the console is getting flaky.
Or you could use a jumper to supply 12v to the terminal where that wire was attached. When you do, the starter should crank the engine, so be careful...
