Sorry, Jeff, but, I'm going to disagree with Keith and Kevin. Our Volvo developed a very small oil leak between the block and head. The oil loss is small, but, it will always let you know where it was last parked in the driveway. There is no loss of power that I can detect from the driver's seat either. I am not going to replace it since I will be turning it over to buy a new car, but, I'll let the perspective buyer know about it. It sounds like you will hold onto the car and, therefore, you will go through another head gasket replacement down the road, so, why not do it now as you're partially opening up your motor? There may be better quailty gaskets now compared to when the previous owner had the current one installed.
Additionally, that leak can only enlarge. When it does, will dripping oil make contact with any part of the exhaust system? If so, you'll start seeing smoke from the right side of the car while your temperature gauge remains in its normal position.
