yes, it's probably your slave, but it may also be your clutch line, which has an ~8" section of rubber that fatigues. your brake light is on because the clutch and brakes share the same hydraulic fluid.

if you open the hood, stand on the driver's side & look down at the plastic shroud that covers the clutch at the front of the motor, you can inspect the rubber line, tho as i think of it, you might need to move some of the intake plumbing (you can't see the slave, btw).

you need to remove the clutch to replace a slave, so you may as well replace the clutch while you're in there. you also want to replace the pilot bearing on the flywheel and, if there's any leaking, the rear main seal, which is positioned directly behind the flywheel. if you're having a shop do the work, the cost for labor should the same, or a bit higher if they also do the pilot bearing and seal.

you can rebuild the slave for just a few dollars in parts; a new slave will run you about $90 from a Saabnet sponsor such as eEuroparts, Sobstory.com, et al. my guess is that having a shop do the rebuild work won't save you any money due to the labor for rebuilding.

if you're doing the job yourself and don't already have a Bentley manual, get one. also, on the web, see these links:
