A sticking AIC valve typically acts up after warm-up or, if it acts up even upon start-up, will not cease to cause weird idle after warm-up; i am skeptical that this is the problem. besides, you've got two components that seem to affect the issue when swapped out.
You might try to isolate the problem by changing only one component at a time, so maybe swap out just the cap and rotor. I'm assuming you're also changing the rotor?? are you using Bosch parts here? My mechanic and many others strongly recommend Bosch cap/rotor.
The following is just a guess; someone with more experience will undoubtedly chime in. If you're only changing the cap & not the rotor, the clearance between the two parts is too great from the start. over time, the brass bits are burnt from arcing due to this clearance. eventually, the distance becomes so great that the spark energy is greatly compromised when the motor is cold. once it heats up underhood, things expand and the clearances decrease, thereby returning your spark energy and your proper idle.
Like I said, just a guess - this could be complete bs.
