tune-up & fault codes? Posted by JimBlake [Email] (#141) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JimBlake) on Fri, 9 Aug 2002 08:45:17 In Reply to: temporary lean running damaging?>, AP, Thu, 8 Aug 2002 19:33:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
A good place to start would be reading fault codes stored by your ECU. It might have stored codes even if the check-engine light never came on. It's real easy to do, check the link...
If you've never read them before, read them, clear them, then drive for a couple days & read them again. Let us know what you read each time.
OTOH, how old are your normal tune-up things like spark plugs & wires, distributor cap & rotor?? I've had bad insulation on spark plug wires, it behaved just like that. Different things can cause this, so just 'cause it was lean for somebody else, its not automatically the same for yours.
