Eric,
I just wanted to mention about the retrofit kit which SAAB installed on some 1985 and older 900s, in which SAAB dealers added a second drain hose for the A/C evaparator area, to correct customer complaints of wet passenger side carpets.
My first '84 900S had had this done, but it's now my parts donor for my current '84 900S, which only has the original, one-drain-hose setup.
I had asked about the drains a few months ago on this board, and here is Ander's reply:
"It might be that your '84 haven't been updated with the second drain hose. You do have one in the front bottom part of the fresh air intake, under hood. But on 85 and older they didn't have a drain from inside car.
The fix contained a little plastic pan that was slid in under evaporator housing, and a hole drilled through right inner fender where the drain hose was routed through. If you look behind right front tire, in the wheel housing. You should see two drain hoses. One about 1/2" in diameter and the other one about 1"." [end quote]
I don't know if your '85T had this procedure (second drain addition) performed on it, or if it would help your leak (since you said it was the gasket going bad). But I thought you might find this an interesting bit of trivia in case the leak turns out NOT being gasket-related...
I hope this helps, though.
