My first (and still most loved) SAAB is my 1980 900T. CIS injection with lamda O2 in my case (California car). Not all 80's had lamda, to this day I do not have a full wire diagram, even have a factory manual! Got the car and a parts car for $850 with the motor in the trunk. The turbo boost control has been a constant replacement item, every 30,000. The water pump is inside the engine, I made my own tool to repair it, the kit was $40 from SAAB last time I bought one. I still have the origanal A/C compressor working, its a GM design, still in use in the 90's GM cars & trucks (same one in my 91 GMC jimmy) Several parts are out of production. The rubber boot on the turbo inlet has most of a roll of duct tape on it. If you split the engine & tranny, the gasket is a total different design than after 82 I think, using a newer one will wear the clutch shaft bearing. (ask me I know) The CIS injection is not as good on mileage as LH, but can be fixed on the side of the road with basic hand tools. Their is a mid year split on the CV's with a November date. Important if you need to replace one. Early style drivers(smaller) 900 clutches are easy to replace! pull off the plastic cover, stick in a couple tools. Fuel pump replacement requires an adapter to use the newer modle, I currently am using one from an AUDI. Look close for rust around the rear "opera" windows, mine rusted out from the inside. Very simple car, and like has been posted, a tank. The 85 MPH speedo can be retrofitted with a 135, but there is a good feeling when the needle is boucing off the peg. Somewhere I have a picture of mine with the speedo pegged at 85 as it turned 299,999 to 300,000. the oodmeter quit at 348,000 5 years ago. Parking brake is in the front wheels, the calipers can be hard to find in good condition.
And yes I'm frequent on the 9k board too,,,,maybe my 88 9k needs more than my 80 900.
