Well, I see you changed rotors, so this is a little late...
You take off the rotor, & check the hub flange basically like you checked the rotor. Since the flange is much smaller diameter than the rotor, you have to expect that much smaller movement. IOW be that much pickier.
A dial indicator works good. I don't have a dial indicator either, so the one time I suspected a bent hub I borrowed one from the machine shop at work.
I check for bent wheels by spinning them on the car & watching the top of the rim, where the weights are mounted.
