It sure sounds like it needs aligning. The trickiest thing in doing the adjustment (from my experience, anyway), is loosening the pinch bolt on the shift coupler.

You may want to consider taking a good look at the front mount. Heck, replacing it is only a bit more work than looking at it (with all that turbo plumbing over it.)

For the popping out of 2nd, it could be any of a few things including a bad synchro, bent shift fork, etc. And, maybe because of the alignment, a rising front mount might be enough to pop it out of gear.
