I don't know about other states but in California it is illegal to run driving lights without your highbeams on. You can't run them by themselves.Factory driving lights will only come on with the highbeams on. That said, wire the driving lights to the highbeams and put a seperate switch in the driving light circuit to turn them on independent of the highbeams. Remember, if you have good driving lights you will blind oncoming traffic and create a very dangerous situation for yourself and the blinded oncoming driver. CHP in California knows all the laws and they proscecute accodingly. I'm also not real happy not being able to see where I'm going when being blinded by all those Asian winged wonders.
