Straight out of the book:
"The front heated seats are thermostatically controlled. Some models have a rheostat on the instrument panel for temperature control.... A thermostatic button under the bottom (seat) cover turns the heating element on and off. The passenger seat switch prevents the heater from turning on if hte passenger seat is not occupied.
It sounds to me like the "little round thing" is the thermostat. On the models I've seen (all earlier) the other switch is chained to the bottom of the seat frame and the thermostats are right beneath the surface. In fact, I need to fix mine because it is chewing a hole in the upholstery...
I hope this helps.
