But remember that it is based on measurements from the O2 sensor. If the injectors are not perfectly uniform, then a lean mix in one cylinder and rich in another will result in unburned fuel along with unused oxygen. The sensor can only measure the oxygen, so it thinks its lean. Same if the injectors are dirty & dribbling.
When you read the codes, did you clear them? Anyway, if you've fixed it, the light wouldn't come back on. Clear the codes & keep trying. There's lots of places to have additional vacuum leaks.
