Have a great working relationship w my tech, highly valued. If I can't/won't DIY a job, I trust what part he prefers - afterall, you're paying not just for his labor services, but his far greater experience
I don't feel good about asking him to install my parts (because it's part of his income and I realize that), though he will and has done it, no prob. Rather, if he diagnoses something, I ask what he recommends part-wise; as a rule he likes SAAB OEM (persume fewer 'bouncebacks'), but does make exceptions for parts he has personal good experience w i.e. aftermarket such as some Scantech bits or OE products (same part, different label or box). Again, you're paying for experience you don't have, so who are we to second guess him?
