But your car should be able to start even when wet with dew.

When you say it won't kick over, you mean it cranks but won't fire? So your starter & battery are OK.

Look for torn boots or seals on wiring connections. Dirty or loose connections at the primary side of the coil? Ignition amplifier (what year/model)?

Get a friend who's willing to wake up early... Open the hood in the dark, try to start while watching for arcing along the plug wires, cap, & coil.

How old are your plugs, wires, cap, & rotor. Many years ago my brother had similar troubles, we inspected his distributor cap & could NOT see anything wrong with it. Still, when he replaced it, it was fixed.

Another idea... Does your coil have one of those black shrouds around the end? If that gets wet with dew it might short. Take that thing off one night & see if it starts the next morning.

Pretty cheap to try a new cap, & if that's not it, you've only spent $5 or $10 - on a part which should be replaced once in a while anyway. Wires are more expensive, but nobody expects them to last forever either.
