I suppose it's hard to tell. As you mentioned the last service at 44k. I
don't have my books with me but I think there is a major service at 60k,
90k and around 120k (I could be wrong). Here's what I would do.
1) Pull and replace the plugs with NGK plugs of the same type for your
car. Set the gap according to the manual. My turbo is at .24 and I would
think non turbos are set to .28
2) Replace the air filter
3) Replace the cap, rotor and wires (cap and rotor should be Bosch brand)
and wires can be OEM.
Since it runs well once warm, I would think you don't have to mess with
the timing at all.
Yes, replace the vac hoses (I use Hose techniques silicon type but you
can use whatever your budget will allow).
This will guarantee the basics are covered. If the problem continues,
you might want to check fuel filter and if you do that, fuel pump is the
next think. And sensors......
I tend to be proactive with my 93 900t. If I'm getting close to a point
where I feel something should be replaced, I replace it even if it's
still working. It's crazy but I live in VA and travel route 66 (a place
you don't want to break-down).
