I asked about the tranny rebuild price and was told $1800-2500. They have been really fair on prices in the past and have saved me money on used parts and stuff on my car that I thought was bad but the mech said was fine so I feel like I can trust them. I'm not sure if that price would include the Pinion. I said my engine had been abused by the past owner because I'm running 20/50 oil and the compression still isn't what it should be. I don't burn much oil but have a bad oil leak. It would appear that it didn't get proper oil changes. I'm surprised the tranny made it to 193K as it probally got similar treatment.
I've had the car since 134K. My shop is looking for '91-93'94conv engine. The wreck yards don't usually get Saabs of that year so I was thinking of calling the tow companies so I can help find an engine. That would be great to find a good engine with the larger Pinion and tranny and drop it in and have a tranny that will go for a while and have the more powerful engine.
Thanks for you info Alex. The hunt is on. KB.
