Had many 900S's and now a Turbo. On my 89T I was amazed at the condition of the vacumn hoses. They are so critical to the operation of boost, idle, etc. etc. and I had several hoses with problems.
So, If I were you with this situation, I would look at the vacumn hoses..the small ones running around the engine, here and there, turbo guage, etc. etc. If they look like that are suspect, getting hard, swollen at the end, bye a bunch of vacumn hose and replace them. It's easy. Get a coupler for the hose that goes to the turbo boost gauge and cut the end off and put a piece on it.
Afterwards, go through the adjustment procedure for idle. It may have been adjusted for a leaking condition that is temperature dependant.
This isn't sexy or hi tech, but when I get a Saab and start fooling with it I find that this causes many idle problems to go away. Good luck.
