If the idle hangs around 2k RPM, vacuum leaks are taken care of, and AIC valve is good, look at the Throttle Position Sensor. When the throttle is closed, you should have continuity between pins 1 & 2 (IIRC, Bentley is at home). Switch may be mis-adjusted or the internal closed throttle position microswitch may be bad. If the ECU receives the contact closure inticating that the TPS is in closed throttle position, it will try to modulate the AIC valve to maintain an idle speed under changing load (like pushing the clutch pedal in and releasing it).
I had similar symptoms in my '88 900S (idle staying at 2k RPM). Changing the TPS brought things back to normal in that respect.
Bad clutch symptoms would include slipping under power.
