The seats I had prior were the older, more narrow design, and while the initial impression is that a more snug seat would be better, my experience is that even with my average posterior size, I'd often feel pain after a lengthy drive, probably because of the hip bones being pushed together. The somewhat wider new seats I recently installed don't cause as much pain. That had to have been an engineering alteration based on some complaints. Perhaps a much thinner person would have found those older seats just perfect.
