but I know that 81- 82 had a different oilpump that take a special care when putting together.
It might be a reason why Saab changed the style of the pump.
If you find a used good one, go with that. But it might be difficult since you can only look for those two years.
Heck it might even be difficult to find a new one at the dealer.
Saab had a bullentin out that stated the two dowel pins/holes had been incorrectly drilled when manufacturing the oilpump housing. And it asked for discard of both dowel pins and use a special centering tool that slides onto crank shaft and fits perfectly into the oilpump housing (where the crankseal is located).
If that is not done correctly, the oilpump gears are gonna end up off center and it will loose it's suction and pressurizing capabilities.
I have had several cars in where someone else have done the oilpump seals without the proper tool and the engine have lost it's oilpressure later on.
