here's the story: my '93 900 blew its head gasket. the motor was otherwise running fine. i had the head resurfaced at a local machine shop, and in the process was not able to get the exact mark to re-install the distributor. i put the head back on, and now the car doesn't advance well at times and sometimes stalls, and also has a howling sound to the motor. i quadruple checked the timing chain, and it hasn't budged; all the marks still line up. i have put the distributor in back in so the mark on it matches right with the head/block interface. bentley's does not elaborate on the distributor mark. all this writing for this question?? IS THIS THE RIGHT POSITION OF THE DISTRIBUTOR? or do i need to rotate it somewhat? or could the head repair have raised the compression to high, causing these symptoms? (engine doesn't ping). any other thoughts? thank you in advance for any advice!
