If you can smell gas, it's probably flooded.
Assuming that you've done all of the normal checks on the cap, rotors and spark plug wires, take a look at the spark plugs.
Pull the spark plugs and try to dry them the best you can - they're probably wet with gas.
Pull the fuel pump fuse so you don't feed it any more gas while you crank it. This can wash away the oil film on the cylinder walls and cause you problems down the line.
With the spark plugs out, crank the engine a few times to dry out the cylinders.
You may want to put in new spark plugs. SAABs can be pretty sensitive to old plugs if they're wet with gas.
You may want to follow this link to Townsend Imports' No-Start check for the LH 2.4. If your's is a 2.4.2, the procedures are probably the same.
If the car isn't a Turbo, then the timing is already set and you can't change it.
