i also have a convertable which just recently developed water problem on driver's side only (front and rear), although AC (when it worked) did soak pasenger carpets in front only. Now I noticed this. The seal between the drivers window and door had recently cracked in a small area about midway on the window. I also noticed that the drain hole for the door is above the lower rubber seal at the base of the inside of the door. When I ran water down window it drained only from this hole. My theory is that water was draining through lower door drain hole and creeping under carpet due to tight seal at lower door rubber seal. I sealed plastic on car where door hole abuts with silicone sealer (black as car is black) So far (fingers crossed) this seems to have helped and last heavy rain (yesterday in NYC) carpet appeared slightly damp but I think it was left over from last soaking only. I also have a leaky top at the hooks above the quarter panel it seems to be designed to leak here into the 1/4 panel down plastic trunk cover that seals off trunk. I have also flushed both of the areas you mentioned. I also noticed that water seems to flow into car more when front of car is elevated ( I think this water comes from front a/c area where air intake is located and drains out wheel well. I am thinking of sealing off this area under hood to keep all moisture out ( at least in winter) Let me know what you find out
