I don't know exactly what got to my radiator, maybe a rock, but I first noticed a wisp of steam, that I mistook for exhaust from another car. Drove the car a number of days until I noticed another wisp, finally decided it was the rad., and drove 20 miles to the mechanic's. I was never in danger of overheating. Again, it sounds like you have a very small leak, and the car is still cooling normally. Starting from cold, the temp. will rise to about 50%, at which pt. the thermostat will open, and the needle will "plunge" to 35-40%. If you're on the highway, that's where it will stay. I've never used Barr's Leak, but the prevailing opinion is that it's counter-productive. As for JB Weld, doesn't it take a few hours, maybe more, to cure? Good Luck!
