a little knowledge is dangerous it can also waste a lot of time and money...
assuming the battery to be good.. reasonably well charged.. ie u dont have a duff battery or alternator or perhaps even a bad starter motor.. your car should crank over for a good ten minutes before a flat battery brings things to a halt..
your comments about the jump start and the car appearing not to crank that well.. suggest everything but the fuel pump.. get a known good and fully charged battery and try it from there.. normal jump starting aint much good cos there is far too much of a voltage loss thru the cables etc.. one effective way to jump start is to connect both cars up and leave the healthy car running (a fast idle) for say twenty minutes.. this will put some charge into the dead cars battery and things might go.. assuming the dead cars battery is any good..
