i always do it.. kind of a habit left over from when cars had no syncro on first either.. just pushing against the syncro is enough u dont have to go right into the gear and u have to be quick.. else cogs start moving again.. he he
dunno about most folks doing it thow.. in england back in the old (none syncro on first days) cars with knackered and busted teeth on their first gears were very common.. he he.. i got the impression most folks never really did learn how to cope with it.. they never used to teach the trick.. make sure the car is stationary was about all that was said.. pretty much the same with reverse now..
bit of a novelty when they first introduced it.. course those who learnt to drive in cars that had syncro on first used to wreak havoc whenever they got into a car that didnt.. he he.. kinda funny but i still very rarely go into first unless i am stationary.. old habits die hard or so they say..
one interesting thing about syncro on first.. some manuacturers said there was no point in having syncro on first cos it would get abused and wear out in two minutes.. odd when u think back..
