I don't know if it is a sign of poor caliper wear or not but.............
1) Inner and outer pads can wear unevenly.
2) rotors can easily be purchased one at a time.
3) Rotors can be "resurfaced", if you want to go a cheaper route, BUT I would not do that if the car is driven aggressively, as in by an agressive male driver, or if they already have a pulsating quality to them when you brake.

They are not that expensive, and the onlne sponsors of this page sell them. Don't get anything fancy...just a replacement...unless your daughter is a speed deamon. Make sure to check whether the rotor on your car has factory air vents in it. Also make sure to include year of car with order, as rotor and brake designs changed post 1987.
