Do the wastegate bypass valve at the same time. You will thank me.

Swedish dynamics sells the turbo rebuild kits, but only if your turbo does not use a carbon seal. Ask them what I mean. Odds are if the car is "American", then you are safe and will not have such a seal....but I did and it was a fu@#$% nuisance.

I would place the turbo exhaust side and body, (but NOT the aluminum intake side or the fan assemblies/spool) in Muriotic acid overnight, also known as hydrochloric acid, and available at any home supply or plumbing supply house for cheap. That kills scale and deposits. Then just buff off any remaining carbon deposits around the seals and re-assemble.

Before splitting the 2 fans apart, mark them with a noticeable scratch that won't fade so that they are re-assembled in EXACTLY the same apposition. Don't use magic marker, as this rubs off. This is a ballanced unit turning at 100,000 RPM. Small imbalances are costly. Also, the instructions call for removing the outer and then the inner retainer rings for the bearings. Only pull the outer ones. There is no reason to pull the inners, especially if you are cleaning in acid overnight, and they are a bitch to re-insert. You will again thank me.

You will need some ratchets that have swivel necks, box ended ratchets, and about 2-3 hours to remove and 1-2 hours to re-insert.
