The brakes need to be bled BUT BUT BUT go get yourself a cheapy vacuum bleeder kit. If you try to bleed your brakes by stepping on the peddle, you'll destroy your master cylinder. It'll still work, but it'll allow blow-by of fluid due to grooves etched into the wall of the inner cylinder by dirt and rubbish that has accumulated there over time. If the cylinder is empty, you step on the pedal and press all of that stuff back, leaving the dreaded scratches. If you vacuum bleed them with a "one-man" style bleeding kit, you dont need to even touch the brake pedal. vacuum bleeders are like 30 bucks and you can use them forever. Been there, done that.
Why did you take the caliper off to change a CV boot?
