Dead Band with Throttle- 92 900i 16Valve
My 92 900i 16Valve exhibits a dead band when either applying or removing power such that that only way to avoid an unpleasant jerking in either mode is to very gingerly apply or remove power. I am conscious of this across all gears (manual) but less so in the higher gears. This also applicable when travelling at speed- say 100k/hr and backing off or applying throttle.
I changed out the AMM soon after purchase to eliminate an intermittent but frequently repeating miss at constant speed/ revs typically which exhibited on highway driving. This rectified that problem.
Car has approximately 170,000 kms (106,000 mile) and is in good general condition.
I have a 93 model as well which I could swap components from as part of a process of elimination.
