Just 6 months ago i too felt like a car idiot, but i read this board a lot and have learned a TON, not just reading for my specific "problem du jour", but scanning for general info about likely sources of clunks and diagnosis. As i've learned more and more i now see myself having a general idea of where a problem lies in about half the questions that get posted here. Sometimes i read the first post that stipulates the problem, write down solutions that i think could fit the situation, and then compare my answers to the others that were posted.

Something else that has brought me along in the learning curve quickly is i have volunteered to help anyone in my immediate area with thier Saab DIY projects (in the NYC metro area)... either to assist or just watch (there choice). I have done this twice so far and found the time to be extremely valuable. The info i learned, along with my Bentley manual, has gotten me thru a few "projects" since then.

Although the Bentley is a great source while working on a project, i think this board is a better source for diagnosis. Also, before starting a project read everything you can on this board about the situation, along with Townsend, TwinSaabs, etc.
