I have a 98 900SE turbo, which is as close as it gets to a 9-3 while keeping the 900 badge. I also drive a beat-up 88 900S 90 miles a day. After all of the saabs that I've had, I'd take one nice 89 Turbo over 10 of these souless-pieces-of-shit 98 900's. Seriously, I hate the new car, I wish I'd never seen it. It handles like hell, and feels light. The only thing about the car that SAAB actually had a say in the design of is the engine. The body and suspension are OPEL and OPEL is owned by GM (yes, general motors). The car is actually also known as an Opel Vectra. If you look around the car, there are shabby (not-saablike) parts all over the place, including a stereo that is VERY reminiscent of those cruddy AC-Delco units that Chevy has been using for years. Go to the SAAB dealership and check out the brand new 2003 9-3 sport sedan things. Get inside, check them out. Shitty build aalll over. What a shame, because the body finally looks like something that saab might actually design. The rest of the car is garbage. Nothing is where it belongs. The window switches aren't in the console (like I like). It's just all over for SAAB. They will never be back to normal until they can afford to buy themselves back from the Western Evil (GM). Do NOT waste money on a newer SAAB like I did. Please don't make my mistake. Spend much less and enjoy much more an older (pre-94) SAAB. By the way, 9000's are a fun lot too. Maybe go over there and ask those guys the same question. I loved my 86 turbo 9000 with 245,000 trouble free miles on it.
