but if your car is a bit slow to fire up because of a weak spark.. the extra cold start injector makes the problem worse.. it floods the engine with too much fuel and turns a bad start into a no start.. u could try disconnecting it at the sensor just under the T-stat housing.. if your bad starting is being made worse by excess fuel it will improve things if not it wont..

your car must be basically okay else it would not run properly once it does fire up.. so we are down to two possible problems.. weak spark or incorrect fuel mixture.. as i say a weak spark problem can be made worse by that extra injector dumping too much fuel into the engine as its being cranked over for too long.. sometimes to the point were the plugs have to be removed and dried out..

once your car does fire up.. excess fuel is easy to spot.. slow spluttery pick up with black smoke coming out of the exhaust.. firng up with too weak a mixture will cause a reluctance to pick up at all.. ie.. a big flat spot as u try and open the throttle getting better as the engine warms up a little..

kinda funny but in the old days the cap and rotor would be one of the first things to replace not the last as in your case.. have electronics suspect em seems the modern way.. he he he.. but it dont matter how fancy the electronics are.. cars still have all the old bits that used to go wrong..

one thing that a lot of folks miss with poor starting is how well the car cranks over.. the fact it cranks over sometimes isnt enough.. if your battery is duff and only just managing to crank the engine over the resultant voltage drop in the system dosnt leave enough left over for the sparks.. this problem gets worse as the outside temp drops.. ie.. the onset of winter.. to put it simply.. the 12 volts u start off with might drop to 6 as the poor old battery gives its heart into cranking a cold engine over.. 6 aint enough for the sparks..

okay.. simple lesson here.. the first thing to check with reluctant starting is the battery.. is it charged and is it healthy.. the simple fact it manages to crank the engine over isnt enough..
