depends how gunked up your engine is.
If it's really gunked up from running dyno for 265k miles, an engine flush may just flush that gunk into oil passages or even block up the oil pump screen (it's happened).
The syn may very well do the same, although its detergent action is less severe than a flush.
If you do make the switch, I'd suggest checking the oil shortly thereafter, see if it's still clean on the dipstick. If it browns out real quick, you may be dislodging more engine gunk than is healthy. I'd also do a 2nd oil change after 1000 miles or so.
Quick & dirty view is to pull the valve cover and see how gunky the little nooks & crannies on the head are.
If you want to read some nightmare stories on flushes on hi mileage engines, do a search on "engine flush".
