Gap is the space between the tip of the straight electrode on the spark plug and the "J" shaped one at the very tip, unless you are using Bosch platinum with the 4 electrodes surrounding the central electrode, (p.s. Bosch plugs and Saabs really don't get along). To change the gap you need to buy a 2 dollar gapping tool that shows you in hundreths of an inch what the space is. DO NOT SPEND MORE. Gently bend the gap bigger or smaller as needed. You read the proper gap off the engine bay.

Trog also has a point. He has answered several of my questions and seems to be a knowledgable guy. He also seems to be a bit of a comic. May I suggest that in the future you not spout off a bunch of essoteric technical jargon until you understand the kindergarden stuff? People in the forum might not take you seriously, and as it is exactly these people you need to answer the questions, you need them to take you seriously.

No question is too dumb, unless you spout off like you are a technical marvel and then ask something simple like what are the tires. I am newer to the forum myself, but I have been around cars for decades and worked as a mechanic to put myself through school.

If you are a "newbie", sit back and read all the posts and the replies every day. You will learn lots AND learn how to ask questions. Things like year and turbo/non-turbo, 16 or 8 valve, 4/5 speed or automatic transmission, hardtop, 2 door, 3 door and convertible and SPG are important, but other things are less so.

Hope I have not offended. Just some candid observations from a big talker.
