assuming that there is enough power coming from the coil to work at the higher gap.. cant be that simple thow else the manufacturers would simply stipulate a wider gap.. thow being as plugs are intended to be in an engine for some time and the starting gap will always thru use get wider the starting gap could reasonably be assumed to be a minimum.. ie.. u can go a little wider but not narrower..
i know one thing.. over the years i have pulled plugs from cars with double the proper gap thru wear and the buggers dont seem to have suffered much from it.. i tend to take plug gaps with a little pinch of salt now.. i just had a rough look at my last ones and bunged em in..
