would cause it to jam shut.. assuming the throttle butterfly to be shut some other means of adjusting the idle speed would be needed i assume this is what the bleed screw does..ie.. bypasses the butterfly.. however if too much gunge is stopping your butterfy closeing enough without jamming.. things aint gonna work right.. your idle will be too fast..

with my none ecu controled car the throttle stop screw actually does something in conjunction with the idle mixture adjustment it sets the cars idle speed.. if i were to do what u have done the car would stop..

quite how my none ecu controled car differs from yours i dont know.. but backing off the stop screw till it isnt doing anything dosnt make too much sense to my thinking.. if this is how its supposed to be set why have it.. ???
