happy new year to u as well my friend..
for more "rotations" than i care to remember my chariots have been doing this.. "May all our chariots carry us faithfully and safely through another rotation around the Sun".. mostly anyways.. he he he..
perhaps the real "devil" looks after me.. whoops..
many "rotations" ago i once asked an old guy who rebuilt engines for a living.. "why he didnt use a torque wrench".. he looked at me with scorn and replied.. "if i dont know how tight to tighten f-cking bolts by now i never will do".... he he he
my lifetime of "spannerings" covers everything from miniature 30,000 rpm model RC car engines to 18 inch high pressure steam pipes.. one of those funny "torque wrench" thingies have never played any part in this.. he he..
mind u a few threads did get stripped during the early part of my learning curve thow.. !!!..
and if i was working for a boss and spending someone elses money and having to take any come backs from an early failure i would adopt a somewhat different approach.. and the job would have cost whoever was paying for it a lot more than 18 quid.. he he he
fixing head gaskets can cost as much as u want it to.. my job will probably hold the record for the "cheapest".. and the car will probably die from other causes long before the 50k u mention is up.. i havnt always been this way.. once i had an engine rebuilt on the basis of mileage alone.. i found out afterwards that the 70k engine i had just had rebuilt at quite a hefty cost had been done only two months earlier by the guy who had the car before me.. he he
