I am overwhelmed by the response from all of you to help me with my problems. I guess with the support and advice from you guys I will eventually take up the tools and do some simple things by myself.

I do have a great Saab mechanic but it was too far from home and I thought the thermostat was a simple thing and went to the local guy who is not that familiar with Saabs. Actually while working on the thermostat he broke the distributor (at least he told me it was broken) and I had to find a used one from New Hampshire. So this was an expensive repair. The temperature gage is not coming up to usual position for the first 20 minutes but the funny thing is after 1/2 hour or so, the car is warm enough and the air flow seems to be fine.

Once again thanks to all of you and I will get in touch with you ("thereuare") later.
