Normally- no! But before I go on- I consider myself an honest guy and have never claimed anthing in my life.

I knew the winshield needed replacing- $$ in hand to get it done, I called my ins. co. on a whim and told them my problem (I was even surprised about FL's law). I answered every question they asked- honestly! I'm pretty sure the girl on the phone did not know what pitting was when she asked if the damage could be covered by a dollar bill. When she asked for a date of damage- I was honest- I told here 9 years of road debris. She insisted on a date so I gave her the date I thought it was unsafe to drive (sometime in Sep).

I expected an adjuster to come out to look, but none did. They took my word for it. Sure it cost them, and everyone (no griping posts- this was not a 14.2M legal battle, just my experience), but my thinking is this. They just bought themselves a life long client, and perhaps saved themselves 100's of thousands of dollars in liabity for the school bus I may have hit???

Lame justification- I know. I actually thought about it for a long time and read through my very long policy. My fall back plan was a 1/2 inch crack (from a golf ball of all things) that she sustained over a year ago. Friends said, "take hammer to it." This was and is just plain wrong no matter how you look at it.

In the end- I sleep very well at night and see very well on the road.

Read your policy- call your company. They do work for YOU. What is your deductable- more than $500... just pay the glass man.
