i had oil seeping out from around a bolt i would simply remove that bolt and apply a dollop of sealant around it and try again.. a bodge but it should work..

these cam covers should not leak.. i took mine off a couple of weeks ago the gasket remained nicely stuck to the cover and made a clean break from the head.. i simply placed it back into position without any sealant at all and nipped the bolts tight without any torque wrench at all and it dosnt leak.. my idea of nipped might be slightly less than the eleven foot pounds the manual says.. it certainly isnt more.. more is probably the problem..

now if i can do this and break every rule in the saab bible.. ie.. no new gasket.. no sealant.. no torque wrench.. something is wrong.. he he..

okay these things leak at the bottom cos thats the "bottom" its where any oil collects.. there are two nicely machined surfaces going together no oil pressure involved at all.. to be honest i would expect no leaks even if there was no gasket and just a thin smear of sealant..

pull the thing apart again and fix it.. its a only half hour job.. he he.. make sure to set the engine to top dead center first thow else the distributor drive will not disengage..

by the way.. u tighten the bolts progressively just like u would with a cylinder head.. all things should be tightened this way.. if u tighten the end ones first the cover will bow and the eleven foot pounds will not be enough to pull the two surfaces together properly in the middle.. i bet your leaks are in the middle..???
