This is one job that I really hate doing. I don't own a lift so the car is on jackstands. It's extremely messy and you will need lots of go joe and a shower afterwards.
If you aren't very slender and don't like being on your back for 4 hours, then it would be better to bring it in and save yourself the misery.
One piece of advice...Take out the sway bar! Bentley doesn't say to, but I've found it much easier to remove the rack with the sway bar out of the way!
In my eyes though. $650 (minus the cost of the rack) is a lot of money and I will do almost anything to save it and re-invest it into my SPG!
I've done at least 5 rack jobs and each time I swear that it's the last one! Then I see the much I would have to pay someone to do it and I always change my mind!
