Well two actually. The clunking from the rear wheels could be the dust covers that cover the "other" side of the rotor. On my '90 900 I tightened the bolts all the way down, and the damn thing rattled despite the fact that the bolts were tight. I had to torch the f$%&er off. It sounded like a "just got married " car".

The back seats are supposed to rest on rubber nipples that attach to a bracket. If those little things aren't there (in conjunction with the aforementined issue), your car will dramatically resemble chitty chitty bang bang. Like mine did. And then you still have noises...

Unless of course your shocks are bad. Which, (guess what?)Mine were too !!!

Your recent purchase experiences eerily remind me of when I bought my '90 900. It was the car that I thought was a "bargain". It turned out to have a lemony flavor. Three grand later, and it's my every day car. I hated it at first, but with 170K of history, I feel obligated to keep her going. Sort of like a curator of sorts...
