As Randy said, this can be fixed and I personally would have it fixed. A body/frame shop can weld a patthc in. A good one will restore it to better than new. I do know of a Jeep shop that does stuff like this on Jeeps, Johnny's on Bloomfield Ave., near the rt 46 split. Near Caldwell. Tom runs the place and he is a classic curmudgeon, but with a heart of gold. He is about to do a similar repair on my son's 1987 Grand Wagoneer, speaking of rust buckets. If he won't work on a Saab, I'll bet he might know who would do a good job for you. If no luck, I would check with several local body shops until you feel comfortable with one.
