mine dosnt as standard and it certainly aint loud.. perfectly standard and perfectly quite cat-less exhaust systems are available.. perhaps not in the US thow.. the cat-less 8 valve none turbo is also rated as 8 bhp higher than the cat-fitted car.. 118bhp as opposed to 110.. a cat-less 16 valve none turbo would probably go up from 128 to 138 i would guess.. the same small gain would apply to turbo cars probably a slighty higher one.. not having one also helps fuel economy.. not the environment thow.. he he

i also bet a cheapo perfectly standard none cat system does more for bhp gain than any big bore expensive and noisy free-flow cat-fitted one..

in the UK cars made before 1992 do not need to have cats fitted by the way.. which explains my cat-less and legal 87 car.. there are yearly test but for pre 1992 cars they are less strict on emissions..

if your conscience and the law permits.. replacing a cat system with a none cat one is a pretty good tune up for 300 dollars less.. kind of a miracle realy aint it.. how to spend less on fuel.. get more more power and pay less than half the price for your exhaust system.. whoops..
